Everybody loves Buckingham Palace - do they really?

Buckingham Palace is one of the most famous buildings in the world.

Every year, millions of tourists take pictures in front of its gates.

But not everyone thinks it’s such a great idea to keep the palace as it is.

Read the two statements carefully.
Then write down the pros and cons about Buckingham Palace.

“A Symbol of Pride and History”

I love Buckingham Palace! It’s a part of British history and tradition.
When I visited London, I was amazed by its size and beauty.
It reminds people of the past and shows the world how special our country is.
The royal family also brings a lot of tourists to London.
Without Buckingham Palace, the city would lose something important.

“Too Expensive and Outdated”

I think Buckingham Palace is old-fashioned and far too expensive.
The government spends millions of pounds every year on renovations and security.
Meanwhile, many people in the UK have problems paying their rent.
The royal family could move to a smaller house and still do their jobs.
We don’t need such a huge palace anymore.
