Act it out!

Read the text. Find three friends and act out the dialogues.

Pete

Hey, you all! Have you heard about our food waste problem?

Sage

Hi Pete! Yes, I have heard about it. We waste so much of our food each day!! Horrible.

Timothy

I did not know about it... I always throw the rest of my food away and now I feel bad.

Maeve

Hello all. It is such a silly problem, right? We throw our food away while other children and their bellies are hungry.

Pete

And it is bad for the environment. My mom buys food for our family and it is always too much. Some of it we have to throw away.

Sage

I talked to my parents about their food waste. They were shocked that our planet suffers because of their behaviour.

Timothy

But how can we stop our food waste? I can talk to my parents, yes. But what can they do to change their waste?

Maeve

Tim, it is so easy! Look, tell your mom she just has to buy the food she needs for her meals. Not more than that! And...

Pete

And your dad can take your leftovers from lunch or dinner to work! That's what my dad does. He likes his leftovers!

Sage

Everything starts with us. We have to stop wasting food. Then others will, too. If I change, my family will do the same.

Timothy

I heard about Greta Thunberg. She changed her lifestyle to help save our planet.

Maeve

Oh yes, Greta! She did it the hard way and stopped everything that could be bad for our planet. Is there maybe an easier way than her way?

Pete

I think there is. Let us all pay more attention our food waste.

Sage

And only buy what we need.

Timothy

And talk to our friends and parents about it.

Maeve

And if we have more ideas, we can chat about their effect!
