Part 1: Re­a­ding Queen Vic­to­ria and Looty

The Royal Fa­mi­ly of the United King­dom has al­ways loved ani­mals. They were fa­mous for their hor­ses, but also for their dogs.



Queen Vic­to­ria lived in the 19th cen­tu­ry. She be­ca­me queen in 1837 and ruled until 1901. She was the lon­gest ru­ling queen of her time.



Vic­to­ria loved dogs very much. She had many pets du­ring her life­time. One of her most fa­mous dogs was Looty. Looty was a very small dog. He came from China. A Bri­tish of­ficer gave Looty to Queen Vic­to­ria as a gift.



The Queen was very happy about her new pet. Looty lived with her in the royal re­si­den­ces and quick­ly be­ca­me a mem­ber of the fa­mi­ly. Ever­y­bo­dy loved him be­cau­se he was fri­end­ly and cute.
